The Welsh Government elections take place on May 5th 2011. Who will you choose to represent Delyn and the people of Wales? Who will you back to put our north east Wales communities at the top of the agenda in the Welsh Assembly?
Choose something different
The opportunity is here for us to choose something different, a genuine alternative to the London-based parties such as Labour and the Conservatives who have let the people of Wales down so badly for generations.
Many of you have put your faith in these London parties for decades – but what ever changes? Whichever one you vote for, all you ever get is more of the same. They have let you down by pandering to the wants of the banks and big business, they are driven by their own London-centric agendas, and OUR needs are not a priority for them.
It doesn’t have to be that way. In Wales, we have a choice.
Here in Wales we have already shown that we can do things differently. With Plaid Cymru sharing power in the Assembly, we have started to see Wales moving in a different direction. A genuine focus is beginning to emerge that is based on OUR needs and aspirations.
Across north Wales, Plaid Cymru have a new generation of Assembly candidates ready to fight our corner. People who are passionate about our communities, our environment and our identity, people who are ready to make the changes demanded by the people of Wales. Our only focus is the needs of OUR communities; Plaid are free to make the right decisions to benefit people here, because we are NOT forced to tow any party line coming from London.
You have created your own Welsh government.
Now put the right people in the driving seat.
Introducing your candidate for Delyn:

Carrie Harper
Carrie is a 30 year old County Councillor with a real passion for our communities in north east Wales. She has a background of grassroots community campaigning, taking on big institutions such as local councils, national government and even the National Trust to challenge plans and strategies damaging to our area.
Carrie has spent the last few years campaigning for more affordable housing for local people and has also focussed on trying to open up local government to allow people to see how the decisions that affect us are made.
“I became involved with politics after years of community campaigning. It became clear to me from my own experience how difficult it was for local people to have a genuine say in the future of our communities and in the decision-making process generally. I wanted to change that – to ensure people had access to the basic information they are entitled to, and to ensure their voices were heard loud and clear. I quickly found that the only party interested in the same outcomes was Plaid Cymru. I found a network of other community-minded people from a huge range of backgrounds already working towards the same aims.”
“Through my work as a Plaid councillor I could see how closed off councils can be in taking on board local opinion and reflecting local needs. I also clearly saw the opportunity we have with our Welsh Assembly to make some big changes at all levels of government in Wales. We need to create a different culture – one that is open, transparent and responsive to the people these institutions are there to represent. I want to take grassroots opinion in north east Wales to the Welsh Assembly and to use my experience within the planning system in particular to make the right changes to improve our lives locally. I believe I can make a genuine difference for Delyn and I am committed to our communities here.”
